musicians friend isn't much of a friend.

i already know a lot of responses are gonna say it's my fault for shopping there but i'm gonna post this in the hopes that the higher ups might see it (doubtful but more doubtful they'll care) since all emails and calls go right back to customer service who is not servicing anything let alone customers.

i've been a loyal customer of musicians friend for over 25 years. i ordered from them when it was still a catalog you got in the mail, before i even heard of the internet. i've spent tens of thousands in the last 3 years alone.  january 15th i call in to get a quote on a special order. the girls nice and all, takes the order and says she'll get back to me in 2 or 3 days with a total. like many times i call in it isn't a small order. roughly 6 grand for a shell pack, a few add ons and a bunch of smaller stuff. i wait 2 weeks, nothing. i call back in and the next guy tells me there is no record of that order. ok fine, mistakes happen, whatever, no big deal. i redo the whole things and he tells me he'll get back to me in a few days at the latest. a week goes by and nothing. i send an email asking for an update. get a response the next day from another girl saying their still waiting on the manufacturer to get back to them. ok can't be helped. i wait another 2 1/2 weeks before i send another email. a 4th guy responds the following day apologizing and saying they already got a response 2 weeks prior. so i waited 2 weeks for nothing, it just got ignored. and if that wasn't bad enough they only quoted 1 item. out of over a dozen items i got a price for 1. just one. and to carry it further all they did was regurgitate the retail price i already knew. the 1 thing on that list i didn't need to know is what i got. so forth guy says i'll look into this and get back to you in a couple days....

guess what?

2 weeks later here i am. no prices, 2 months of waiting. debating on why i am still a customer at this point. i find it amazing that a 25 year customer who is willing to throw thousands at you gets ignored. amazed at how a company can just let a large order walk away because of sheer laziness buy sales staff. as much as i don't like sweetwater, i done called them and already have a quote back and still waiting on you clowns to think i might be good enough to respond to. 4 sales people, several phone calls and several more emails and i am no closer to what i can get myself in 30 seconds going to any music store's website. way to earn that money! wonder how pissed you'd be if when you go to deposit that paycheck the bank teller tells you they'll get right on it, walks away, does nothing and just leaves you sitting there wondering whats going on. god forbid starbucks does this with your morning grande latte, i bet you'd throw a fit.

thank god i never gave you money, and i'll be hard pressed to give you anymore.

First, you waited how long?

I would have been all over them in two days like a homeless man on a taco! You have to realize, these people, they get paid by the hour, they go home they have dinner...your request is a distant memory [Not right, but reality!].

Sadly it is INCUMBENT on the BUYER to follow up with e-tailers, especialy if you are trying to put a package deal together... If you want something other than to place a basic order, you need to be the DRIVER, not the Passenger...

I used to have an 'arrangement' with MF where they would give me quotes, and I learned very quickly that I had to be all over them like a cheap suit to get what I wanted in a timely fashion. That said, once an order was entered...WAMBAM, it shipped...my last order with them arrived today, a day early [in California, from Kansas City!], so...all I'm sayin' is you need to take the initiative...be a pest if that is wha tit takes...skweekie weal and all that...

i'm not going to pester somebody every other day to do their job. they're not paying me to supervise their sales staff. if they don't have some sort of follow through then they loose business. and i'm not talking about placing an large order for a discount. this was all stuff they don't normally carry so they have to contact the supplier for prices and that's where it fell apart. if it's a stocked item yeah they ship it out quickly. none of this was.

maybe i shouldn't have been patient. but like i said i've never had issues before so yeah i didn't have a problem giving them a little extra time. what i have a problem with is them ignoring the quote all together multiple times.

I haven't called the main MF in a decade.

I'm mostly a guitar player, but play some drums.

Next time call Derek White at the Musicians Friend Private Reserve in Kansas City. He works the warehouse, along with a few other guys.

Derek is the best. Over nights stuff to me, and send me pics beforehand.

Right now I am waiting on a Martin 00028. Called last week. The deal is they are not releasing gear that comes from the distribution center. With this covid 19 thing happening. Things are taking longer.

I'll be talking to Derek later in the day.

Also manufactures may not be shipping gear.

It's a touch of a waiting game in these times.

I just spoke to Mike at MF Private reserve. Nobody is allowed in the distribution center at this point in time.

Makes sense too me.

I'm still waiting on an Amazon order too.

Different times folks.

702,000 square feet. That's a lot of building and a lot of gear.

I just got a call from Derek White  at MF Private Reserve. He said last night they were able to get in to the distribution center and grab my guitar.

Awesome and awesome peeps. Can't wait till it comes, probably tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

I told him not to open it with the covid 19 thing happening. He usually opens  a few boxes and sends me pics.

I went with the natural ages one.

Sorry about posting guitars in the drum section of of HC.

The distribution center in KC hands bother the Guitar Center and Musicians Friend.
