Members tubes4tone
I'm going to upgrade a set of Mains in the very near future, but I've been out of the loop on what's good, not-so-good, or even available on Live Sound gear, especially FOH mains. It seems that most manufacturers have offerings in the low end portable range and then jump up to 2k+ each installed arrays. I would really appreciate any thoughts on boxes within the following constraints: *Passive, *Flyable (small installation in a leased space)*Price: 750-1250 each. Obviously cheaper is better! Options I'm considering so far: Any opinions or recommendations from other manufacturers, especially in this price range?
Members dedmeet
Make sure you budget for professional installation and make sure the cabs in questions are made to be flown! Some questions: 1. What will these cabs be used for?2. Type of music?3. Volumes required?4. What other gear (mixers, amps, processors, etc.) do you already have?5. Permanent hang or other? Thanks! Members BillESC
If you could live with an active cabinet, I'd suggest looking at EV's ZXA5.
Members STRAT TOOL
I have the Tour X 2 way, 12" boxes and the single 18" subs. I'm really happy with them, I've done maybe 30 shows with them. Outdoors, you need double 18"s to keep up with them. I know the TOur X series is flyable with numerous fly points. I'm a ground pile guy myself. Members STRAT TOOL
I don't know how big your room is, are you going to fly subs too? If not and you wanted kick ass low end the Tour X 2 ways with the double 15" are powerful, I've heard these without subs.
Members rwhealey
You could get a pair of used EV QRx 212s for that price.
Members witesol
I am loving the TX1152s, flyable, low cost. I really think they perform better than my QRx115/75..not biampable, slightly less robust but better than an MRX IMO..

Members Barisaxman2000
You can get NEW EV QRX212's for under your $1500 per box maximum if you call a dealer directly that will sell for under MAP. None of the local shops in my area will do that, so most of my stuff is shipped in directly from those smaller dealers who will move a little on price. Members Rezrover
My EV dealer said "their" prices went up this spring and I was getting the EV Phoenix stuff for around the advertised QRX prices.
Members banddad
I really like my JBL SRX712's, but then I'm using them with subs, and they are NOT meant to be flown. I believe there is a version of the 715's that is meant to be flown. As already said, don't fly what isn't meant to be flown. Do you have separate subs for the system? What are you trying to do, as far as type of music (or voice only?) and audience size?
Members Bobby1Note
I would imagine that the Yorkville U15 or U215 Unity Series speakers would be serious contenders in this category. http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?type=29&cat=
