Suzuki accoustic Guitar

Recommended Posts

Not a lot of information on the net about Suzuki Guitars, and specs ,and serial number dating . They stopped making these before the internet took off. I  found a 6 string model #  (f 100 s )

There's a small amount of information about the f100 but nothing about the "s"  . this place in model number Usually refers to finish .  all the  f100  had englemen spruce or laminated englemen spruce and have no "s" to identify it as spruce . So it doesn't refer to top.  it supposed to be cedar so do the Japanese spell cedar with "s". It's not slim either ,that was on folk Guitar this is a dreadnaught . any one know how or where to find out about these guitars. This one sounds and plays great for 47years old.

The Japanese phrase for "cedar wood" is 杉材 which comes out as "sugi-zai" in English characters so I guess it's possible but honestly I doubt it. Is it possible the "S" is for "solid" as in solid top?

So, is the question about worth or collectability?  Probably not a lot of either, but a guitar that plays nice is just that.  There are a boatload of instruments that were sold under various names from factories with contracts and orders from various companies, some still around, a lot are not.

The mid-early part of last century has a number of good instruments that were orphaned by the brand after a few years, later part of the century the same.  It’s apparently a business lots want to cash in on.  Suzuki is quite a name in music and motors, none related most likely.  Sorry no help, but the business name side of this stuff is still pretty interesting.
