Not digging the red so much... I’d go with white or black.

Yeah ,the red doesn’t look quite right to me either  . But I may cut one out anyway  just for kicks

Think of a Mel’s tribute

Not much happening today. I’m happy with the sawed off bridge so it got mounted. Before it got screwed on I sprayed silver Rust-oleum over the bare metal edge to make it pretty. Fortunately paint doesn’t stick to chrome very well so the overspray cleaned right off

I don't mind the red--although I'd prefer a different pattern like tortoise--but I prefer the white. I agree about the Cabronita style pickguard though.

Some of the pieces I have . The bridge plate could be cut down and drilled to more of a hard tail or a TOM bridge can be used  . Considering fashioning a pickgaurd of some sort with the laminate sample . Basically just going to jump in and see where it goes

Quick question - what's the value on those pots? If they came out of a previous Tele that had single-coils, they're probably 250k - you'll probably want to swap them for 500k pots if that's the case. They'll work much better with the humbuckers.

Come to think of it , I’ve had a sheet of tortoise laying around for decades. Now where did I put it

Thanks for the reminder

I found that old sheet of tortoise and it’s interesting,

Black or the tort would look cool. I would prefer the tort myself, but that's just my 2 pennies.

I agree.tort is the favorite, but I'm still going to cut a piece of red for kicks

I built my own model guitar about 6 years ago from the 1st guitar I ever owned. Custom neck, pick ups, removel of the gain and level knobs, removed the Floyd Rose system and it plays better than when I got it in 1993!  Squire Bullet "Franken-stain". My custom model.  Sounds sick as {censored} in Drop B.

Got Shanghaied into helping my neighbor build a deck. Today is a rainy day so back to more important things.

Cut down the black tele pickgaurd and fastened everything in place. l like it but plan to use the guard as a template to cut one from the tort sometime later

Time for some wiring ,strap buttons and strings.

Very pretty, can't wait to see the finished product!

Finished the wiring. I took your suggestion and went series . I haven’t tested it yet but it should be good.  Used a blend pot instead of a switch . Mainly because I already had the control plate and pot..

Okay it’s pretty much done. Still need to get the setup dialed in and I somehow got two wires reversed on the blend pot but it’s complete.. The wires will be easy to swap.

I had to try wiring the pickup coils in series but not sure if they will stay that way.  I’ll give it a chance but will probably go to normal humbucker wiring

Here she is and another with the Tele Trio
