Members DeepEnd
I'm not an amp guy but here goes: What do you hope to do with the amp? If it's for bedroom practice or noodling around the house, any of your choices will do. If you actually expect to play out with it, go with the Marshall for its extra Wattage. You'll get an extra 5 or 6 dB of headroom over either the Blackstar or the VHT. Depending on the speaker, a 20 Watt tube amp can be pretty loud. Members xStonr
The amps you listed are more of a classic rock sound. I wouldn't classify any of the amps mentioned as a Metal amp. You would definitely need a pedal to get there. You are comparing 20w to 5/6w amps. Power wise the Marshall has more. I have owned variations of the amps and I like the VHT ultra best. YMMV
Phil O'Keefe
As xStonr said, you really need to use a dirt pedal in order to get any of the mentioned amps into metal territory.
