Shure BLX Wireless Microphones - Are they really that bad?

Hey Guys,

I am in the market for some wireless handheld microphones for AV hire use. Mostly corporate gigs at smaller venues and no more than (4) mics at a time.

I've been doing some research and see a lot of negative comments from the pro community regarding Shure BLX. I don't know much about RF and was wondering if any of you all could help me understand if/why they are a poor option.

Thanks!

We actually looked at and tested the BLX2 when they came out as a low cost entry to wireless mic/no snake stage...but the mics were not great vocal mics; they didn't seem to have the range of even a SM58, and they share the same basic cartridge. After that I noticed that most of the end users who liked the mics were using them for speaking purposes, which is far less demanding. So they may work fine for your needs, just not for singing.
