Phil O'Keefe
I've seen that before - it's a great clip. Watching it again, the thing that struck me this time is just what a great right hand Les had. He really was a great player.
Members Luke17
Wow, that is a blast from the past.I remember watching Omnibus on Sunday afternoons as a pre-teen. It was broadcast out of NYC..my Dad called it ‘The Smart Channel’ because they had basically educational shows, movies, Arts, Music etc. and no commercials as I remember. I lived in Central NJ, my father would turn to roof top TV antenna to pick up the New York Stations to watch the Yankee games and Omnibus, otherwise the antenna was always set to pick up the Philly stations at our house. I believe Alistair Cooke hosted some of those programs then later on went on to host PBS station programs like Masterpiece Theatre.I’m kinda thinking Omnibus was a precursor of Public Broadcasting.Les Paul was a North Jersey Guy..wondering if that is how he wound up on that program? There was a ubiquitous Men’s Clothing store called Robert Hall, Les and Mary sang and played the commercial Jingle for them.It was always on the radio and was quite good. The second song was the one everyone liked the best...that was some excellent guitar work..👍
Members Jeff Leites
I remember Robert Hall. My dad moon-lighted there for a short time. "School bells ring and children sing, It's back to Robert Hall again".
