What's your favourite guitar solo?

Recommended Posts

My favorite Steely Dan guitar solo is Kid Charlemagne.

But my favorite Steely Dan solo is the sax solo from Dr. Wu.

Yeah that solo is killer. It's right up there with some of the great sax stuff from Pink Floyd. The sax on Us and Them is fabulous.

For just raw power and emotion, I like how Niel Schonn sounded with Journey before Steve Perry.

Solo starts at around 5:10

I wonder if Hans Solo could play a good guitar solo.

I heard Hans and Princess Leia want to name their kid, guitar

I'm a bit late to this party but as someone mentioned above, there really are too many from which to choose. As well, many have already been noted.

So I'll just toss this one out here. It's the only known recorded example of an amp in its final death throes:

(Crank it up! I promise the sound is not the result of destroying any of your own equipment, though that is precisely what I thought had happened when I first came home with the CD.)

Maybe Keefs short sweet solo on Sympathy for the Devil. It's classic Tele awesome sound- bright, cutting, stinging... and even though its quick, it flows within the song in a manner that is not easily done or commonly heard on other great solos, and it has incredible impact. It's pure perfection just the way it is.

If it hasn't been mentioned before (or even if it has) the solo on Highway Star from Machine Head is pretty good.

I don't think Billy Gibbons has ever played a less than really good solo.

Most are great.

Even in the lame ZZ Top songs.

BB King had a big influence on me and many of the other players I learned from.

Here's the one of the reasons why...

Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show' date='"Cover of the Rolling Stone" :)[/quote']

It rivals the first "Joe's Garage" solo, since we're talkin' some Zappa.
