Members Etienne Rambert
You are going to remove pickups from your Gibson Custom Les Paul & put them in your Epiphone Les Paul? Good luck w/ your new project.
Members mbengs1
Why bother with pickups? coz the pickups are the critical factor in having nice tone. if the guitar is perfect but the pickups suck, it won't work. but if the guitar sucks but the pickups are good, it can still sound good. I used to have this trashed up strat copy that I painted van halen stripes on and it had a super distortion dimarzio in it and it really sucked. the pickup was not screwed to the guitar or a pickguard and it would touch the strings went you kneel down to fix your effects or cables etc.
Phil O'Keefe
Don't listen to the voices Brian - the top hats are the only way to go on that guitar! That's a hot looking axe!

Members mbengs1
I recorded a song using the epiphone. tell me what you think of the tone. I think the stock pickups are not bad. they can compete with the aftermarket pickups. https://soundcloud.com/user-18667799/song7-like-agressor
Members jtr654
What type of amp are you using? It might be the amp that the tones are not what you want. Sounds like some kind of modeling Amp?

Sounds like some kind of modeling Amp? I'm using an amp model called 'Boss Drive'. It's the effects of my digital recorder. My Boss Br-800 comes with lots of effects. Members jtr654
With that type of Modeler your pickups won't make much difference in the sound that you get.

But it sounds pretty good. for multi effects it sounds like any modeler from a renown company.
Members Etienne Rambert
For what I play on the LP - the 490 R& T are perfect. I don’t shred. I don’t do overdrive. But from a transparent near-acousticsound to Jazz comping - they’re a great pair.
