A Little Bear Tube Drive. Why did I get it? It looks cool. No other reason, other then it was 25 bucks, and I thought, how bad can it be? Well, I am stupidly impressed with it. Reasonably quiet, good tone, drives the amps nicely (Roland Bolt 60 and an original Bluescube.) Can do fairly clean,. to a wonderful Marshall on steroids type of tone. The tube I am using, is a 12ax7. Typical preamp tube. (it was supposed to come with a 6n4, but the seller didn't realize that bubble wrap is king. duh...) So, here's my question: Would a 12au7 tube smooth the distortion a bit? Make it a bit less "gainy"? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
