Members gismo recording
I was working on a new song yesterday. I turned on the drum machine which was still set to whatever it had been on the previous time I used it. That wasn't fast enough so I hit the faster button a few times. Still not fast enough to I hit it some more. Found the tempo I wanted at 154 BPM but was having trouble playing to it. I cut it in half, down to 77 BPM and played the piano at the regular tempo. I found it easier to play to with instead of kick on 1 and 3 and snare on 2 and 4, to have the kick on 1 and the snare on 3.
Members bookumdano4
I also do things like only work in 2/4 for stuff that's 4/4. I can't remember the last time I set a project to 4/4. Makes it way easier to edit/cut/overdub etc.

Members philboking
I use 2/4 time a lot for tracking 4/4 in Reaper. I use a kick sample on 1 and a snare on 2. But the latest version gets around this, by letting you map the sounds to the beats. It used to be an ABBB pattern in 4/4. Now you can change it up. So I can get the same results by using an ABAB pattern, without losing track of the measure boundaries. (A is kick, B is snare) For your case, it would be A-B-.
