Members Axisplayer
Back around '61 or so when I had an ES-335, I tried them because at the time I liked acoustic guitars and it gave the 335 more or that sort of sound. Mellower, smoother, quieter all mattered. I found that they lasted longer for me because they didn't accumulate dirt or grease like round wound did. Once that early era of rock moved to harder stuff like Cream and Hendrix, they were out of the question. I have not tried them since because I don't have any semi or hollow body guitars, which is where I think they belong. I mean who wants a Strat or LP with flat wounds? I guess someone might, but it wouldn't be me. I think of them as a different flavor, but not for everyone.
