The Stones. It's mostly Mick Jagger as the front man I don't care for. I'm not really into the garage band sound either. Jagger is an image I don't want stuck in my head. He looks like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. It could be worse. I could have said the Beatles.

I hate his voice. I love the music though.

I'm having trouble because I can generally think of at least 1 song that I like by most bands.

A couple bands that didn't click with me (but still had a song I liked).

Foreigner (I hear Trump hates them too).

Rush

Velvet Underground

Oh god I forgot about how much I hate Foreigner!! The lyrics, melodies, guitar playing..ugh:facepalm:.

Agree and agree. Rush's guitar is particularly Lifeless son.

But, Velvet Underground?? Really?? I don't see how that fits in. And it's cuz I like them.

There is so much classic rock I couldn't stand back in the day, and the same holds for the present. I was so glad when that era was over.. . . a bunch of sh!t music. Here's a partial list to start.

Stones

The (Sh!t) Band

Doobie (Smeg-For-Brains) Brothers

Doors

Aerosmith

Pink Floyd

Eagles

Donovan

Todd (Fookhead) Rundgren

Electric Light (bulb up your ass) Orchestra

Jackson (Sh!tface) Browne

Bob Seger

Moody Blues

Procol Harem

Paul Simon

Simon and Garfunkle

KISS

Steely Dan

Janis Joplin

Tom Petty and Heartbreakers

Greatful Dead

Van Morrison

Paul McCartney

CCR

Fleetwood Mac

John Lennon

Bob Dylan

The Who

The Beatles

. . . any kind of crappy folk or disco music.

Also. . . .

Little Feet and Eric Crapton. The guy pioneered elevator music. What else. . Derek and the Doormats.

I've never been a Beatles fan though I don't hate them, John Lennon on the other hand I can't stand, neither his music or him.

There are many different kinds of rhymes. If you exclude all but identical rhymes, I can see your point, but there are probably others that you like but don't realize they fail your standard. . . .

Not a matter of rhyme. Here's what I'm talking about from the chorus:

Oh, oh big ol' jet airliner

Don't carry me too far away

Oh, oh big ol' jet airliner

'Cause it's here that I've got to stay

The only thing ''airliner'' has to rhyme with is itself so you can pronounce it correctly.

Assuming they qualify as classic, for me it's Foreigner, hands-down.

Others high on my list would be:

The Doors

The Kinks

Pink Floyd

Journey

So much dislike for bands I like. Really? People don't like Pink Floyd? What's wrong with you people?

I can see the dislike for Foreigner, Styx, REO Speedwagon, etc. but even though they put out a lot of crap, they also each had a good song or two IMO.

And Steve Miller. He's never made a great song but IMO, he's created a lot of good songs and a few crappy ones.

The only "classic" band I can think of who I dislike everything I've ever heard from them is Kiss.

The Kinks? OMG. Ray Davies is among the top five greatest songwriters of the 20th century.

Pink Floyd? Again OMG. How can anyone not love Pink Floyd. Even if you think (and I agree) "The Wall" was a bit over-the-top and self indulgent, there's so much more to their catalog.

Well, I don't even think of Pink Floyd as rock, not sure what I'd call it, but I find their stuff unlistenable. The first Kinks album I bought was Muswell Hillbillies (though I'd long heard them on the radio), and I hated it so much I traded it for "Who's Next" even though I didn't really care for The Who either.

Gonna just have to disagree with you on Ray Davies: I wouldn't put him in the top 100 songwriter of the 20th century. I used to immediately start mashing at the car radio buttons whenever "Lola" would come on.

With the exception of some early stuff (bits of Echoes, Meddle, a Syd Barrett number here and there, Childhood's End), I've also grown to thoroughly dislike Floyd though I was a huge fan when I was in high school.

Not to say they weren't great musicians or anything. I love Nick Mason's drumming, for one. The guy had GREAT feel. But I just can't take the ponderousness -- Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Ugggh. :0

I think he meant Ray Stevens

I think "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" is an absolute masterpiece. Then inarticulate garbage till another peak with Meddle. Dark Side is likewise a masterpiece, just not one I care to ever hear again

"Animals" has some real standout moments, but its like you said... ponderous.

The Wall is 4 sides of "I'm a whiny b*tch", broken by "Young Lust" which is a killer rock song :)

Oddly enough, I agree with you on Foreigner, The Doors and Journey, and totally disagree about The Kinks and Pink Floyd. I can understand an American not liking The Kinks, because a lot of their stuff was very, very English.

The problem I have here is that every time I think of a band I can't stand, I think of that one song that I love.

The Who - except for 'Behind Blue Eyes'

Deep Purple - except for 'Burn'

ELO - except for 'Ticket to the moon'

(oddly, all British bands. Hmmm)

OK, I've thought of 2 bands that I can't stand at all. Kiss and Def Leppard
