Members Anderton Posted June 22, 2016 Members Posted June 22, 2016 Granted there are some valid reasons for ditching the 1/8" phone jack, but this article is pretty funny. I think Nilay Patel just may be my new favorite writer...
Phil O'Keefe Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 If Apple decides to release a phone without a headphone jack, I will probably decide not to buy it. It would be an utterly stupid move that will make life harder for users - like the article says.

Members ermghoti II Posted June 23, 2016 Members Posted June 23, 2016 Abandoning headphone jacks to make phones thinner? What a laugh. They can make a phone the thickness of a credit card, and it will still be unwieldy because they insist on making everything with a 7.25" screen. It's a money grab, and/or an instance of asking what one can do, versus asking what one should do.
Members Ernest Buckley Posted June 24, 2016 Members Posted June 24, 2016 I`ve been an Apple user since 2000. Since Jobs passed, they have struggled to remain ahead of the competition. Losing the headphone jack would be one of the dumbest moves. I use BlueTooth everyday and it works 99.9% of the time so I don`t agree with the article on that point but I still use my iPhone at the gym with Apple earbuds. Its nothing fancy and the audio sucks compared to my studio headphones but I use that headphone jack a lot as well. And as the article states, NO ONE is asking Apple to make that change so it would be a ridiculous move on their part.
