Phil O'Keefe Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Played with the Grease Band and Spooky Tooth, and probably most famously with Paul McCartney and Wings. That was him on Live And Let Die and My Love. He was 72. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/beatle-paul-mccartney-pays-tribute-to-former-wings-guitarist-and-northern-ireland-music-legend-henry-mccullough-who-has-died-34800555.html http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/paul-mccartney-mourns-death-of-wings-guitarist-henry-mccullough-20160614
Members onelife Posted June 15, 2016 Members Posted June 15, 2016 Some fabulous work on this album too.
Members onelife Posted June 15, 2016 Members Posted June 15, 2016 That was him on Live And Let Die and My Love. McCartney said in 2010 about the solo: “ I'd sort of written the solo, as I often did write our solos. And he walked up to me right before the take and said, 'Hey, would it be alright if I try something else?' And I said, 'Er… yeah.' It was like, 'Do I believe in this guy?' And he played the solo on My Love, which came right out of the blue. And I just thought, {censored}ing great. And so there were plenty of moments like that where somebody's skill or feeling would overtake my wishes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Love_(Paul_McCartney_and_Wings_song)
Members AlamoJoe Posted June 17, 2016 Members Posted June 17, 2016 You know, I'd always absolutely loved "A Little Help" that Joe and the band played at Woodstock, especially the guitar work.It was one of the film's and I suspect the entire festival's high points, and most memorable moments. I feel a bit guilty that I did not follow this gentleman's work closer.....RIP
Members E-money Posted June 20, 2016 Members Posted June 20, 2016 I love that solo on My Love (which was my wedding song). Monster tone and phrasing. RIP.
Phil O'Keefe Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 My Love was actually the first guitar solo I ever sat down and tried to figure out.
