Sweetwater's GearFest 2016 - Official Show Report Thread

Recommended Posts

Here's another view of the tents. You can see Sweetwater's main building in the background. Last year, there was a torrential rain that kind of, uh, "dampened" spirits. This year, the weather co-operated 100% - no rain, and while it was hot, the temperatures were reasonable. Furthermore, there were buckets of free bottled water everywhere so showgoers could stay hydrated. It's telling that Sweetwater didn't charge for the water...again, it's not a place that takes advantage of a captive audience.

Heck, even the the Pavilion for performances is "In Tents." But unlike the tents for manufacturer exhibits, this structure is permanent. It's also the only place on the Sweetwater campus capable of holding all the employees at once.

Two Notes also makes a family of pedals called Le Pedals. Yes, those are tubes you're seeing in those little windows.

AEA Ribbon mics - it seems Congress may have passed a law that if there's a show with audio people in attendance, Wes Dooley has to be there. This is a rare photo of him not wearing his top hat.

Gibson Pro Audio - people really like the new KRK 10-3 monitor, but you need a big enough studio to accommodate it. Neat mics were also there, and people are finally starting to realize just how good they are.

EarthQuaker Devices amp. It's not quite ready for sale yet, but you can see the direction. The all-white design looks cool, it would go great with the all-white Brendon Small Snow Falcon guitar.

Hammond XK5 Heritage Series - yes, it sounds like a Hammond, with no chiropractor required if you want to go gigging with it.
