Tony Iommi - Jethro Tull

I keep seeing Tony Iommi's face all over the forum. I just discovered he did a brief stint with Jethro Tull after Mick Abrahams left and before Martin Barre joined the band.

I can't help but wonder how that would have turned out if it had worked out.

“I didn’t feel quite comfortable with it,” Iommi says. “Even when I went down to the rehearsal with them, I took (longtime Black Sabbath bassist) Geezer (Butler) with me. I said to him afterward: ‘I don’t feel happy with this.’ It just felt weird. I said (to Butler): ‘Let’s get the band back together.'”

Video won't play here. Iommi doesn't strike me as a Tullist. Not even close. The guy from Gentle Giant mMmaaaybe and that's a stretch. Come to think of it Slingers who flunked a Tull audition would make a very long list. Hypothetically of course.
