Members Dendy Jarrett Posted February 29, 2016 Members Posted February 29, 2016 In this week's Make Better Music newsletter, I wrote an article about a world without music. Can you imagine? How would it affect you? Here is the article: http://www.harmonycentral.com/articles/a-world-without-music Post some of your thoughts!
Members Voltan Posted March 6, 2016 Members Posted March 6, 2016 i lived in that world for a few years. while my world was not devoid of music, i was in a position where i chose instead to not make music due to a failing relationship. i turned to stone. sculpting it...
Members Notes_Norton Posted March 6, 2016 Members Posted March 6, 2016 ACK! I can't imagine it. But then, you can't stop the music in my head (I can't even stop it). In my entire life, I've only met one person who didn't like music at all (not counting people who can't hear). Humans have been making music at least since we lived in caves. I don't think there is a society of humans on Earth that doesn't have some kind of musical culture. Imagine there's no music, it's difficult if you tryNo crickets below us, silent birds in the skyImagine all the instruments, never saying "Hi"? You might think that is tortureyou're not the only one Pick up your axe and join meLet's play and have some fun (With apologies to Mr. Lennon)
Members Dendy Jarrett Posted March 7, 2016 Author Members Posted March 7, 2016 I am certain Mr. Lennon shares your sentiment
Members Dendy Jarrett Posted March 8, 2016 Author Members Posted March 8, 2016 As a musician (and more specifically a drummer) it is hard for me to not to identify with almost anything in terms of musical patterns. If I hear something like a machine running, it will typically remind me of a particular beat which in turn will remind me of a specific song. It is almost as bad as voices in my head! D

D I hear rhythmic patterns in all sorts of things like that on a regular basis. It's never really bothered me - it's just the way I perceive things.
Members Dendy Jarrett Posted March 8, 2016 Author Members Posted March 8, 2016 Oh, definitely doesn't bother me. Just like when I walk, there is usually a cadence playing in my head. However, just like with everyone sometimes "that" song gets stuck in my head and drives me bonkers.
