Members DaBender
So true. Reminds me of the time Commander Cody came to town to play in a little hole in the wall. A friend of mine that owns a music shop rented out the gear for the show. He said something to the effect of "I don't know what kind of place they thought they were playing, but the amount of gear they rented was whacked.". Just this past weekend I played at a jam in a bar you can spit across, and the glass walls, tin ceiling and hard floor really bounce the sound along. Yet, this really hot sax player thought he needed to play through the PA. Wrong.
Members W. M. Hellinger
Only problem I see is that panel #6 (bottom right) did not address the backline gear. I don't believe double Marshall stacks and double SVT 8-10 stacks are generally needed for a speakers on sticks FOH gig.
Members Axisplayer
With enough PA, they aren't needed for any gigs. ;-)

Members scarecrowbob
I saw this a long time ago, when I first was running sound regularly and thought it was funny. My first thought upon seeing it now was pretty much what Mark wrote out.

Members W. M. Hellinger
Dummy cabs for 'the show'. Well it looks like the guitarist is way too stinking loud. The FOH system looks like it's about the right loudness. The regulars don't want it too loud... understand? I don't care if those are dummy cabs, it better not be as loud as it looks. Yep folks tend to judge hard with there eyes and automatically associate stacks as way to loud. Also frowned upon by some of our local Indian Casino's who don't take to kindly to stacks. Members agedhorse
I have that hanging in my shop from 20+ years ago. I did the Commander quite a few times, many years ago (both before and after the accident) and it's a loud show. It's rocking, and the music is good too. IIRC, all of the guys in the band were really well educated and I remember some interesting discussions on all kinds of odd topics before the shows. I have run into various members of the Airmen in other bands over the years as well.
Members W. M. Hellinger
I have that hanging in my shop from 20+ years ago. As do I. The referenced office circular is admittedly dated, but insightful. Notice the difference of the cabinet shapes frames 1 thru 4 vs. frame 5. (which I believe depicts JBL Concert series vs. Turbosound... or similar) BTW: One of my favorite office circulars: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSJ0K_-uZj9xsOflyDI1--sGn7E756DGF0D-X2PTkadl28nJ2y6zQ terry should get a kick out of that
