It really just keeps getting better and better. I'm starting to get my own Solo Acoustic Corporate gigs now and i'm filling in a lot of dates with 2 more corporate acts on the roster. Plus We've started an Acoustic Pop Trio for Corp Production Company I work for and we have our first date at Tin Roof in Orlando Monday. I have a double booked on St. Paddy's Day playing with a fun 80's band I sub on GTR with called Switch. http://www.iloveswitch.com In addition we are starting to put together a Corporate Country Pop act....Whew! All this is in addition to everything Mark and I are doing with our own band and duo and my regular FOH Sound gig at Club 39 At The Plaza on International Drive, Orlando. https://www.rosenplaza.com/club39/

My wife got a new job for 10K a year more than the one she had and I'm already making more money that I have since 09!! This was the BEST Move!!!

Well we continue to get better and better gigs. 30+ between now and the end of summer. Hope we have a singer. He set to leave in May. so far we have been contacted by mainly big dumb rock singers who think we should be doing more eagles, boston and foreigner.

Your song list looks a lot like ours. We rotate in around 100 songs at at time, but at some point we've done nearly everything on your list. FWIW, you have the perfect "wedding band" set list if you ever wanted to focus on that.

thanks! we have been going after them more lately. Right now we have 4 booked this summer one a month from may-august and possible one in sept and oct. We are looking for more A list club, casino, private and wedding gigs. Phase out all the small places. We have a sub thats ready to do the weddings if we dont have a singer in place when our current singer leaves at the end of May. Not sure whats going to happen cuz I swear every 50+ year old classic rock singer thinks we would be "perfect" as his backing band.... seriously! One guy actually sent me a message saying that. Uggh!

I've always kind of sucked as a lead singer, but really, it's just because I've never had a good enough band behind me. With the right band I sound just like Robert Plant. At least I do in the shower singing along to my Zep records.

You guys seem pretty good though. And you have some gigs, which I can't really get on my own either because I don't have any connections and I'm kind of a dick.

would you be interested in auditioning to be my backing band?

Ha! I was away on vacation. Just checking back in today. :)

The gig went very well. I'd call it a success. The new male singer was as energetic as I hoped he would be. The new drummer kept things moving well. The new songs went over great. The band clicked well together. It also served to point out where we still need to tighten up. Song transitions, for example, but the forward momentum was great. Very good first gig together.

We tried working on that at practice last night. We found several songs that worked well as pairs one right into the other. And we worked on getting on the same page as far as getting a song started so we can all work off a cue from one person and go right into a song. That will come with time and I think we addressed a lot of it last night. Next gig is in a couple of weeks and we'll see how tight we've gotten by then. Hopefully, we'll be pretty much there and then we can relax and have fun more. Mostly it's just getting familiar with one another.

Crazy how dead this place has become.

And now somehow even more dead.

When will all the new members Gibson is bringing show up?

my band is slow this winter with no gigs on the books until April. Rest of the year looks to be pretty solid though. The plan is to use the downtime to get promo updated and solidify relationships with agents and learn new material.

planning to get an X32 rack or two, but no rush on that it seems. Since our regular sound guys use their own, it's easy to put off the purchase. By which time the new latest and greatest thing will probably be on the market.

Side project crashed and burned after the second rehearsal. The guitar player suggested 109!!! songs he has played previously. Zero were sung by women. I let him know we needed songs sung by women for our female singer. He got all upset, then came over and got his stuff. haha

Still no movement in the first band. les sigh

I'm auditioning for a brand new top 40 country band next week. They are very good, especially the guitar players. This band is going places. If they don't hire me for drums, maybe they'll hire me as their live engineer.

Egads! As a musician, I can't imagine not wanting to learn new material. To only play stuff I already know just seems so boring and stifling. How are you ever supposed to grow?

Not to mention that such laziness is also a really bad business move most times. It's bad enough that so many audiences want to hear the same "classics" endlessly. It's even worse when the musicians themselves purposely perpetuate the cycle.

No kidding. Those 109 songs could have been a start in a new direction and include songs sang by women as well. Some people.

The Grungeraiser went well, we played the 5 songs (threw in another) and played for about 45 minutes then another half hour set after that. It was a good time. We have some upcoming gig, combine that with sound I'm booked into October with 2 weekends off between now and sept.

Crazy!

This is one of those "he did you a favor" kind of situations.
