Members bobjimjoe3 Posted December 11, 2014 Members Posted December 11, 2014 Hey, I was wondering if anyone could identify my Paiste Signature Series cymbal. Someone just gave it to me, and I'm trying to figure out if it's NICE or just nice. It's a 20" Dry Ride with SN 98053066. I was able to find out that it's from 1998, but I don't know when they introduced their cheaper signature series things, or if this is the real deal. The back has a stamp of the "Paiste Ride Program" and the back of the bell has a stamp with Patent numbers. The US patent number is 4.809.581. Anyone have any further information the cymbal for me?
Members Dendy Jarrett Posted December 11, 2014 Members Posted December 11, 2014 Paiste never has made a cheap Signature Series. (to my knowledge). I believe you probably have a NICE cymbal on your hands. Can you post a picture of it? (to post a picture click on the "A" icon on the right of the post box which opens an advance editor. There you will find a image upload icon nest to the one that looks like a film strip- the video uploader). Signatures were introduced in 1989 with a patented formula that used Phosphor Bronze Alloy. They have always been considered upscale quality. D
Members keric Posted December 14, 2014 Members Posted December 14, 2014 Pics would be necessary, both sides, the stamp and any other markings. The weight would be helpful as well. I bought a collection of cymbals from someone on Craigslist and hidden amongst them was an 18" Zildjian crash with a stamp that wasn't familiar to me. I sent pictures of it to someone at http://www.rarevintagecymbals.com/ . He was very helpful in letting me know about the cymbal, and when and where it was manufactured.
