Anyone got recommendations for something similar? I change strings before every live set, so they gotta sound good and balanced right out of the box. This is for reg gauge (.010-.046) on a prs-like Hamer. For the current band, I'm going for van halen tone, cranking my bassmaster through hot plate. Thanks for any help!! Members sammyreynolds01 Posted August 29, 2014 Members Share Posted August 29, 2014 that's a hard question to answer. strings are different for everybody. there's always ernie bal, d'addario or dunlop. i like dunlop because they sound like they are broken in a little. of course you could always get ed's signature strings. but they're 9-46 i believe.
