Members Eric Von Kimble
~~I've been using the m audio 61es controller and it has recently crapped out on me. I've tried fixing but to no avail. Any suggestions on midi controllers. I have looked at a few under 300 by m audio and Novation that come with drum pads on it. I say this because I may have been too rough with the keys when making drum beats which could be why a key went out.
Members WRGKMC
I picked up one of those Korg Nano Controllers for $30 and it works like a champ running Sonar. It lets you control up to 24 tracks using the three banksand has the basic pan knob and transport buttons etc. The unit is built well for its cost. I don't get real nuts using it because I used a mouse mixing fort so long.Once its set its ready to go for any recording I do. I still need to figure out how to automate effects and a few other things with it.I'm pretty old school and I don't need to do allot of that stuff but Its fun to use on occasion. I may want to get a second one at some point so I can have 16 sliders going at the same time for larger projects like you would a mixing desk without having to change banks. Since they are so inexpensive there's really no reason not to. I'm not sure what benefits the higher end ones have but for the normal panning and levels and creatingautomated tasks, it works without a flaw. You do have to read the specs though. I believe they are only good for a few different daw types like Sonar, Cubase and a few others and may not be recognized byothers.
Phil O'Keefe
In addition to M-Audio, Korg and Novation, I believe Akai and Arturia also make keyboard controllers with built-in drum pads. In my experience, all of these companies make cool, reliable products, and I'm sure any of them would do well for you. Assuming you want to stick with a 61 key controller, here's a few links you might want to check out: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keybo...ard-controller http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keybo...ard-controller http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keybo...ard-controller http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keybo...ard-controller http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keybo...ller-package-1 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keybo...nce-controller
Members ambient
I have an Alesis qx49, it's ok. Not very sensitive so you gave to hit it quite hard, and the documentation is pretty bad, but it's cheap.
