Members Tomm Williams
I'm looking at adding the ELF processor to my Bag End subs. The intergrator I'm looking at is the ELF M2 which uses balanced inputs and unbalanced outputs. The outputs do however use an XLR connection rather than 1/4" so ultimately I'm using a low impedance cable to connect back to my snake box returns. On many events I use two 200' of snake back to FOH, anyone see a potential problem with this arrangement? In case my concern isn't clear, I'm questioning whether the unbalanced output will have a negative (humming, etc...) effect on cable length back to the board. Members Scodiddly
Any reason the processor has to live at FOH instead of in the amp rack?

Not really but I would prefer the option of being able to monitor (from FOH) if the limiter is engaging, make gain adjustments, etc...
Members Pro Sound Guy
If the ELF unit is in the rack/stageside Tom then run balanced through the snake, and out of the snake>>>>too the ELF unit balanced. The ELF will be only be and arms length or so from the power amp then running unbalanced is no big deal.I think 15ft is max on unbalanced cables. Members dboomer
The connectors don't have anything to do with the impedance of the circuit. Running unbalanced you will lose noise rejection. So if there is and Rf/ EMF around you'll pick up 10 times as much as if you had 20 foot cables. Get a 1:1 isolation transformer.
