After the X went upstairs, I stayed on the couch reading, googled something, ended up on an older forum thread discussing mics, someone mentioned fake 58s and linked a YouTube vid, and I checked it out. I think you just have one with a replacement ball. That is a pretty common replacement. Most 58's have the extra hole for a locking screw, some don't.
