Old York upright Piano?

A friend of mine just purchased a house with an old York upright piano that was left by the owner. He said it was bought new in the 1940's. My friend doesn't want it and offered it to me free. Sounds in tune, looks to be in good shape.

I would have to pay a mover to get it my house. It is a beast (Heavy).

My question is will the piano need tuning often? I am thinking that it may end up becoming a decor and not an instrumnet and I will be the one that has to get rid of it.
