Don't forget...

I know the piano is a little burried beneath the vibes, but I wanted to get your folks' opinion on that; it's the 'grand piano' sample on my EMU-Emulator II run through a tube screamer; I think I'd like to re-record it with a real piano, but I kind of like it as it is; any thoughts?

i like it ok.

i like the drums, the tines or bells or whatever really get annoying after a while, although i like where they ring before the change at 2:46.

however, since the song is only 2:54, i'd recommend changing before 2:46, as otherwise it just sounds like a loop.

also, i'd double up the bass and drop the second instance of it by a couple of semi's or something and perhaps investigate eq'ing it differently and adding some sort of effect or element to it so it's not as dry, as it sounds sorta weak now

Good thoughts, Resonator, thanks. Right now the song (structurally and sonically) is still in its infancy so you're hitting on most of the mental notes I have to modify the thing.

I'll give that bass idea a shot, too. I've cut the sub bass a bit, but I think although that's worked well in the past it was kind of dumb this time because the bass is mostly subbass anyway.

: ) We're about to release a promotional EP, and we won't be charging for it, so if you want a copy and are out of the Seattle Area (or even if you're in the seattle area) then the deal is you have to promise to burn 5 copies and give them to friends. We'll even give you the label to put on the CDs, just so long as you get the word out!

If you're interested, send me an email with your address at andrew@velella.net and we'll get you hooked up.
