Members fuzzy4dice
Hey Guys, Can I use a Fender Rhodes sustain pedal on a Yamaha CP70? Is it the same set-up? Thanks So Much, ezt
Members orangefunk
I don't think it is.. I seem to remember it used a chain.. Anyone else?
Members analogaddict
Its similar, but not the same. the CP pedal is fastened to the piano with screws and to the legs with chains. You
Members fuzzy4dice
Well, the thing is, someone is selling a CP70 near me and it does not come with the sustain pedal. I have a Rhodes, and I figured I would never play them at the same time. I'm sure it might be an expensive headache to get the pedal afterwards...I don't know. Anyone else? ezt
Members orangefunk
Its funny you're talking about the rhodes pedal because I've been trying to mod mine over the last few days... I've been trying to make the dampening mechanism a little smoother by putting new felts everywhere... seems to make quite a difference..I also plan on putting a new backing felt under the keys to stop the bounce.. Members fuzzy4dice
Hey Orangefunk...are you trying to mod it for a cp70? Anyway, does anyone know where I can find one. I bet it will be expensive as an aftermarket thing. What should I pay for a cp70 without the pedal? Thanks, ezt
Members orangefunk
No just trying to mod it for better use on the rhodes... I always thought they could be better..
Members fuzzy4dice
So, does the pedal actually lift anything in the CP70 the way a Rhodes does? Does anyone have a pic of the underside of a CP70? GRACIAS
Members Hobbes
I have used a cp70 pedal for my rhodes so there should be no problem the other way. They use the same consept, but you might need the rod for the cp70
Members fuzzy4dice
Well, since the rod is adjustable on the Rhodes pedal then it ought to extend to the right length. So, I guess the answer to my questions is: Yes, Probably, and Maybe! THANKS! ezt
Members wes-ninja250
It's been awhile since I've even SEEN a CP-70 (hey, I don't hang out with the musicians I used to!), but IIRC you can use a Rhodes pedal with a CP-70 by throwing a bit of duct tape around the sustain rod, where it fits into the CP-70. Members logeoff
Hi All I have recently came upon a Yamaha CP70 but does not have a sustain rod and pedal. I was looking at the Fender Rhodes sustain pedal as repIacement part for my CP70. Does anyone know if Fender Rhodes pedal is compatible with the Yamaha CP70? Seems like mechanics of the pedal are the same, but I am not an expert. Thanks. Geoff
Members Crazyfoo
Here's a pic of my CP-80's pedal. Mine is modified due to a rolling stage castor set-up the piano sits on and ive never used the chains ever. The carpet holds it in place just fine.
