Members 27Frets Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 SOLD Very very nice PRS McCarty Goldtop- I bought it used last year- has a handful of tiny dents and dings thus the low price. The guitar plays and sounds spectacular- it is completely original except for the tuning pegs which I changed to locking Gotoh SD-90MG's last year. These tuners blow away the stock ones, but I'll include the stock ones as well. The frets, fretboard, and neck are in excellent shape and the moon inlays are real nice. The hard case is included- it is beat up but functional. I have pictures highlighting the imperfections- just ask and I'll email them to you in a zip file. The price is NOW $1,200 and I'll split the shipping with the buyer. Continental US only (lower 48 states). Paypal or certified check only. I have ebay feedback under the name 'stratboogieblues' as well as positive transactions with other HC members. PM me if interested. Dave

Members 27Frets Posted May 8, 2008 Author Members Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks for the offer but none of those guitars really appeal to me. I'm most likely not going to accept any trades- just want to sell it out right. Good luck and thanks for looking- Dave

Members OsirisProtocol Posted May 13, 2008 Members Posted May 13, 2008 God I wish I could spare the cash for this but I have to pay off this semester tuition for my university. If its still available in three weeks or so I'll take it off of your hands.

Members durs836 Posted May 23, 2008 Members Posted May 23, 2008 is the back finished (painted/glossed)? also how do the mccarty's sound compaired to say the custom 24? i want pretty much a hybrid of the two... i love the custom 24 pups and 5 way selector but hate the trem bridge.... also i like my necks to be satin or somewhat unfinished because i love the look and feel of a wood neck thats either unfinished or satin
Members 27Frets Posted May 24, 2008 Author Members Posted May 24, 2008 is the back finished (painted/glossed)? also how do the mccarty's sound compaired to say the custom 24? i want pretty much a hybrid of the two... i love the custom 24 pups and 5 way selector but hate the trem bridge.... also i like my necks to be satin or somewhat unfinished because i love the look and feel of a wood neck thats either unfinished or satin The back of the guitar is clear coated and glossy- the finish is natural- no coloration. This finish is also on the back of the neck and headstock- so the entire back of the guitar is the same finish. The McCarty is a little thicker and therefore heavier than a Custom 24. Not by much but you'd notice if your familiar with both. I'm not sure how to compare he pickups since I haven't played a 24 in a very long time, but the McCarty pickups are awesome. Very versatile. I used it for blues, rock, and metal- it does it all. One of the great attributes of this guitar is rolling the volume knob back a little- there are so many great sounds. The tone control is one of the best I've had in guitar as well- there are so many great sounds by just rolling it off a little. The coil split sounds are surprisingly good too- not really strat-like, but more towards a P-90. The best thing for you to do might be to go check out a McCarty at your nearest PRS dealer- there's no better way to get a feel for one. Hope this helps- let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Dave
