Members wolfxbeast
Hello, I have a 2002 (i believe, need to check the serial again) Gibson Les Paul Studio. Black with chrome hardware. In pretty good shape, a few nicks and scrapes here and there, but overall very nice, and plays great. Has the hardshell case too. I am looking for a tube amp head. It has got to be tube (i apologize to the solidstate folks, but if it ain't tube, i cannot even consider it).. Preferably something with some gain to it! Thanks! Members Dr. Scottie C
My friend has a guy out of Canada build his amps.... His heads that is....and I usually end up with 2 or 3. He builds 2 and 3 watt high gain heads.... now, I know what you are probably thinking...what are you going to do with 2 watts? Answer?? Alot. If you put my 2 watt high gain with a 4x12 Marshall cabinet, it will rip your head off....in a club of 500 people, with a 4x12 cab, you wouldn't be able to turn the volume on this head past half. You see...in a club.... you can't crank that 50 or 100 watt amp on 9 or 10....usually 1 or 2 maybe (which equals wussy tones) But at 9 or 10 is where the good tube saturation begins..... but when you put a 2 watt high gain head with a 4x12 cabinet, and crank her to 10.... you have total tube saturation.... but at manageable volumes.... he hand wires these point to point just like the company he used to work at...Soldano. I have 3 of his 2 watt high gain heads that I put with 4x12 cabs..... I just received one about 2 months ago, and its mint...it hasn't left the house. Randy charged my buddy $740.00 shipped for this amp head....and I helped him out financially, and now I have 3. Below is a video of Randy demoing this amp...and in the pic, is mine....which he put in a nice solid Oak casing. Please excuse Randy's chops...he's a builder, and collector...not much of a player.....but you'll get the idea. Since I have 2 of these already, I will spare 1 of them if you are interested. I would only be willing to trade straight up. If you aren't interested, that's cool by me.... these are custom made amps, handwired point to point to be replica's of Soldano's. Here is actual pics of mine I would possible be willing to trade.... I say possible because I am not sure if I want to give one of these up, and I would have to confirm first that the LP studio has no structual issues.
