Members Les-Zombie Posted April 23, 2009 Author Members Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks man, who knows maybe I will decide to keep it, I better not play It or I will definately change my mind about selling it.
Members shredhead7 Posted April 23, 2009 Members Posted April 23, 2009 Big mistake, I love mine! So many tones in this thing...
Members Phillip Posted April 23, 2009 Members Posted April 23, 2009 The ULTIMATE setup is to have BOTH versions: 6L6 and the EL34 They are very different tonewise and with Both you get the best of everything! My rig consists of BOTH! Yep, got rid of the Herberts/Mesa's/Mad Professor/etc...
Members Les-Zombie Posted April 23, 2009 Author Members Posted April 23, 2009 arent you the dude that has 2 of them and about 30 spam threads trying to sell them. just curious if your the same guy.
Members Phillip Posted April 24, 2009 Members Posted April 24, 2009 I have had 9 of these heads (5 EL34 versions and 4 6L6 versions) to date, plus lots of Diezels, etc... for sale over the years. I kept 2 of the ENGL's for my Personal rig, others I buy and sell all the time. The SE670's are absolutely the best of the best (in my opinion) after A/B comparing them to Herberts ( with many different tube configurations), 2 Mad Professor CS-40 heads, literally dozens of Mesa's (Road King, etc..) plus alot of other brands too. I ALWAYS came back to the ENGL SE670 in the end for my personal "best" of the "best" amps. In fact, I have dealt over $12K of amps alone JUST ON TGP site! I do not advertise high end stuff on this site anymore because it just does not sell. People are very jealous, scammers, etc... and I do not care to deal with it anymore. My 100% Perfect eBay feedback on Tons of very high end gear, plus sales on TGP hold up my invaluable reputation as a great seller and honest person. I currently have 3 Herberts for sale (all the very latest WITH THE LED's above the rear fuses!!). You won't find them for sale ANYWHERE other than me (or a dealer) because they are so new. People crave the Herberts and I sell them fast. I personally think they lack in some areas, but to each their own. I will not sell them to anyone on this site though, not worth the aggrevation and nonsense. If you check eBay or TGP from time to time, they will be advertised there. Plus, I have ENGL's for sale (I only deal with the SE670's) as they are the only ones worth dealing among tons of other amps too. You are making a big mistake selling/trading that SE670. I guarantee you will be regretting it in the long run.
Members Kgod420000 Posted April 24, 2009 Members Posted April 24, 2009 I have 2 will always have these 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Members Larrikin666 Posted April 24, 2009 Members Posted April 24, 2009 Damn. I thought my gear was pretty gangster with one of these. I feel like I need to double up now. Ha. Thanks a lot guys. I thought my amp needs were complete. Now, I'm gonna have to drop another $3,000.
Members Phillip Posted April 24, 2009 Members Posted April 24, 2009 The 6L6 version and the EL34 version ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN TONE. This is why I have 2 of them (one version each) You are just showing your ignorance... I am really starting to just use this site as a comic book since there are sooo many joksters and children on it!! I just gotta laugh... The big majority of you kids on here HAVE NO REAL GEAR worth mentioning oviously!!!! Go out to play now, momma will call you when din din is ready!

I know this is a For Sale thread, sorry to ask this here but............ What do you find the difference in tone to be between the EL version and the 6L6 version. Just curious because I have only played the EL34 version

Well atleast you're not being a dick about it:facepalm:Stop hijacking the guy's spam thread with your own personal crap.Honestly man, I've seen the other threads. You can't sell here because you have a chip on your shoulder. A couple people asked for references and you blew up.
Members Phillip Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 The differences I find to be critical: 1. The 6L6 version has more headroom resulting in better Cleans 2. The 6L6 is more "dynamic" and less forgiving on sloppy playing. In other words, it will show your flaws quicker than the EL34 version. 3. The EL34 version is more "compressed" sounding 4. You can "hide' your flaws to some extent with the EL34 version. 5. The EL34 version is not as aggressive as the 6L6 version. Yes,it is indeed very agressive if you dial it in, but not to the same extent as the 6L6 version. 6. EL34 version best suited Good cleans/ classic rock/ hard rock 6L6 version best suited for Great Cleans and very agresssive metal. hope this helps... Also, very importantly: yes, there is a switch on the top of the chassis allowing for both tube types to be used, but be forewarned! If you purchased an EL34 version and want to use 6L6's you MUST change the 4 bias resistors (a Major pain) and vise-versa. If you DO NOT have the proper bias Resistors for the specific power tube you utilize, you WILL risk serious damage to the amp, especially at high volume levels of use. The two different bias values used are: 47 ohm and 1K ohm. I actually did the swap on one SE670 quite awhile back. This is BEFORE ENGL had the "distinctly" different circuitry for the specific power tube utilized. It was a royal pain and time consuming. Best, Phil
