Members mockie
Hi l am new here. I am a semi pro keyboard player,I play a Triton Extreme 76 and I'm interested funk, jazz rock'n roll etc. Question: I saw the late Ray Charles on TV recently ,a live concert from Paris recorded not too long ago. He was using a Yamaha master EX 88 ? keyboard and he had great module (not visable on screen). Well it had all the great sounds, acoustic pianos, Fender Rhodes, as well vibraphones etc. Does anyone out there know what module he was using. I kept on thinking Yamaha. Any info would much appreciated. Thanks Frank

Members program_insect
Something tells me that if you can play like Ray Charles, it wouldn't much matter which module you were using....
Members MartinHines
If I were going to guess, I would assume a Yamaha Motif ES Rack.

Back on topic, I am a little surprised that Yamaha does not list Ray Charles in their "Digital Music Artists" list, given that I have seen Ray Charles use Yamaha products plenty of times: http://www.yamaha.com/Artists/ArtistList/0,6843,CTID%253D551078,00.html

Yep, he knew his stuff. That's why he avoided Korgs

Members AndyBergsten
Ray used 2 Kurzweil K2000 modules that sat under the keyboard. I'm currently writing a story about when Ray used my KX88
Phil O'Keefe
Cool... thanks for the info. The K2000 is a cool sounding synth. Would like to read your article when it is finished, so please post a link when it is done!
