Members stratcat Posted November 23, 2002 Members Posted November 23, 2002 wash your hands.. safeguard soap tends to dry the skin. Even dish soap works well, something on the harsher side.. also I keep a thing of baby powder in my gig bag to help keep my hands dry.. a clean neck helps some too..
Members marloni Posted November 23, 2002 Members Posted November 23, 2002 this is gross, but old folks believe it... urinate on your hands and let it dry up. do that repeatedly. they also say drinking your piss cures bronchial ailments lol
Members StratKat Posted November 24, 2002 Members Posted November 24, 2002 simplest remedy to sweaty hands is DONT SWEAT! sorry.... Well, consider that sweat comes from heat buildup and the release of energy from your body. Okay.... Then it appears that you are working too hard or expending too much physical energy either in force or nervousness. Reduce this and sweating is reduced SOME. But usually its nothing you can control. So i use finger ease, a dry towel, and learn to get used to it and defeat its drawbacks through applying more seriousness to my technique as i go. Its just one of those things you HAVE to deal with as a player. Some guys never sweat. I sweat at the thought of work..... I just learned to ignore and overcome it via alot of effort to correct over playing and nervousness. The only thing worse then having sweaty hands is having sticky ones so wash up before you play the guitar!
Members whyflipoverthefrog Posted November 24, 2002 Members Posted November 24, 2002 I'm a guidon bearer in the Corps of Cadets, and when we go on 3-5 mile runs, I have to high-port a flag above my head. At the beginning of the year, I had problems with sweaty hands, and I couldn't grip the flagpole, and I had problems running. THEN: a couple of minutes before runs I started spraying my hands down with the aerosol Sure deodorant, and it works damn well. My hands never sweat on runs, and my grip is always outstanding. I would recommend this as long as you clean your neck and fretboard off constantly. I guarantee that if I can run 5 miles in 100-degree weather holding a flag above my head and not sweat, it will work for you on stage. Just clean the neck off.
Members J the D Posted November 26, 2002 Members Posted November 26, 2002 I'm in Florida and play a lot of outdoor gigs and sweat, a bunch. I find corn starch works much better than talcum (baby) powder. Talcum leaves a sort of slime on your hands that bleeds onto the instrument, corn starch does not and has a higher capacity for humidity (sweat) than talcum powder. I also keep a bath towel on hand to dry my hands between songs.
Members Viper301 Posted November 26, 2002 Members Posted November 26, 2002 well you could undergo surgery...

Members IamBurnout Posted December 18, 2002 Members Posted December 18, 2002 My daughter suffers from sweaty hands. She gets a prescription for this steroid cream that has so many side-effects that I won't touch it wit my bare hands. Talk to your doctor, and see what he thinks. It might be a simple solution.
Members Carvel58 Posted October 14, 2009 Members Posted October 14, 2009 I'm pretty sure that the title is self-explanatory.TIA We carry an antiperspirant lotion, when applied to the hands, removes moisture in 30 seconds and prevents perspiration for up to 4 hours. It is non-sticky and doesn't transfer any stickiness to the musical instruments and doesn't get on your clothes.

Members heavy D Posted October 14, 2009 Members Posted October 14, 2009 Really? Your first post on the forum is to a six year old thread? Fail. I don't know about that, I think the real FAIL is not that he revived an old thread but that he didn't include a link to his amazing new product... If it helps the OP a nice soft terrycloth towel always worked for me.
Members The Extremist Posted November 1, 2009 Members Posted November 1, 2009 get a good fan, i swear by it. when you're shredding and burning up the fretboard with friction the fan takes the hot air and moisture right out of there, and also keep's your body temp down. i get sweaty if using a wah pedal and playing fast. the medication im on makes me sweat real easily. always wash your hands before you play.
Members the_gunslinger Posted November 1, 2009 Members Posted November 1, 2009 I think the OP has probably figured out a solution to his dillema by now. .. .
