Members thamiam Posted January 27, 2003 Members Posted January 27, 2003 The red dots are the Root of the scale, or the name of the scale. The white dots are the scale tones. Start with a red dot on the 5th or 6th strings (lower strings) then work your way across the fretboard. That should get you the scale, although depending on position you may get confused unless they show position by position scales. If you know the names of the notes on your fretboard, and the names of the notes in the scale, it becomes a lot easier.
