Members Verdical Posted March 17, 2003 Members Posted March 17, 2003 I was trying to think of an idea that would bring all the HC guitarists together that went beyond debates, chatting, and other routine activities and this is what I came up with: What if we had a "Lick of the Day" or some variation of this where a guitarist posts an mp3 of a specific phrase they came up with so that other guitarists can learn the idea and incorporate it in their own playing? I was thinking about breaking the concept down to the following criteria: 1. There would be 3 levels the licks would fall under: 1.Beginner2.Intermediate3.Advanced 2. The lick would be played slowly first and then up to tempo3. There would be a description for each lick that describes its possibilities of application, origin, and its harmonic content.4. Their could be a thread that has a sign up sheet for who's turn it is for the L.O.T.D. and it would be a "sticky" thread so that everyone can see who's next and when they will be posting. I'm pretty new to HC and I don't know if this has ever been done before around here, but I think it would be really cool and I hope we can make it happen. Let me know what you think, and tell me if you have any suggestions that could make this concept work. Peace.
Members djmojo Posted March 17, 2003 Members Posted March 17, 2003 hehe I remember suggesting this before and nobody picked up on it, a few people said it was a bad idea... but I like the idea, so I guess we now have 4 votes.. so we would sign up and then it would be our turn to post or something?
Members Verdical Posted March 18, 2003 Author Members Posted March 18, 2003 Yeah, exactly. Let's say you had a blues lick you came up with and wanted to post it. You would sign up for let's say...April 2nd under the Lick of the Day sign up thread, and then you would be the man for the L.O.T.D. on April 2nd. Dig?
Members djmojo Posted March 19, 2003 Members Posted March 19, 2003 pretty cool, some people dont like sharing their creative genius tho and I suck, so I wouldnt be posting, well maybe Ill put up some good pentatonic wanking stuff ... maybe.
Members N4Player Posted March 19, 2003 Members Posted March 19, 2003 Ok, I took down the Gilmour lick, forgot about the original part. I'm all for it though ! -Bobhttp://guitar-wav.com

The criteria states that the lick must be original!Good lick either way though. I hope more people get in on this so we can get started, or maybe if we start, the people will come.........................

Members N4Player Posted March 26, 2003 Members Posted March 26, 2003 Here's an original one..I'd have to put this in the intermediate category. On the first wav, I play the runs slow - twice each. The second, I play it faster, once each. I'm using an autowah on these if you're wondering. -Bobhttp://guitar-wav.com/riff51.wavhttp://guitar-wav.com/riff51A.wav Tab is on http://guitar-wav.com - page 6.
