Members mr. twinkletoes Posted March 14, 2003 Members Posted March 14, 2003 I can play sweeps real fast downstrokes but it always has to slow down on the upstrokes any advice I really want to get good at sweeping arps.
Members WattsUrizen Posted March 14, 2003 Members Posted March 14, 2003 It's easy to sweep downwards, because that's the natural motion, to go with gravity. You will also notice that you lean your pick over slightly to facilitate this downwards motion. You need to do the same with upwards sweeping. Lean the pick backwards so that the momentum is moving upwards. Also, just practice nice and slowly. It will be frustrating because you can sweep the direction well, but... Practice makes perfect, eh?
Members D8rkn3ss Posted March 14, 2003 Members Posted March 14, 2003 practice. It all comes down to finger independence, and even I still struggle with this to a degree. I especially have trouble sweeping chords that dont have the fingers sweep in a simple diagonal direction( index, middle, ring, pinky for instance). once you can lift and press your fingers individually for most things, you can do just about anything. keep trying.
