Members invisible_8cat Posted April 2, 2003 Members Posted April 2, 2003 I've always like those basic guitar transcriptions for popular classical pieces which contain popular Mozart, Beethoven, and Grieg transcriptions. They are simple and they impress people. There is one good one I just can't remember the title and I'll get back to u on it but most music stores have them.
Members Little Dreamer Posted April 3, 2003 Members Posted April 3, 2003 Ben Bolt had a book called "A Rock Player's Guide To Classical Guitar". I think it might be out of print, but it pops up on Ebay sometimes. Good book; it's all finger picked classical tab, from easy stuff all the way up to Bouree by Bach. One nice tremolo picking piece as well. And there's a tape of Ben playing all the tunes as well.
Members crowekd Posted April 4, 2003 Members Posted April 4, 2003 If you are looking to learn how to play classical guitar, then one of the standards methods is by Aaron Shearer. It comes in two volumes. Any decent sheet music oriented store will know of these. On the other hand if your are looking for classical pieces arranged for guitar, how about something like this. Paganini Caprice No. 24
Members ralphster007 Posted April 4, 2003 Members Posted April 4, 2003 If you plan on getting into classical guitar playing and learning to sight-read, then I'd recommend that you pick up Frederick M. Noad's 'Solo Guitar Playing' books, and supplement them with transcriptions suitable to your taste and playing ability.
