Members SeattleRuss Posted March 30, 2004 Members Posted March 30, 2004 I'm thinking about teaching music / guitar via webcam. I'd love to hear about some of you folk's experiences - good, bad, whatever. It seems to me that if teaching beginers with this method, the cam should be on on both ends so that I could say, "No! Not like *that*!" - lol! Doesn't seem like it would ever be as good as a one-on-one-in-the-same-room kinda thing. Plus any advice as to what webcam to buy would be nice.
Members rude Posted March 30, 2004 Members Posted March 30, 2004 I tried to set that up with my friend before. I thought it would be interesting, and a solution for people who didn't have any teachers where they lived.
Members 1boogieman Posted March 31, 2004 Members Posted March 31, 2004 It can work, and it's good to have 2-way view. Public schools and universities have classes defined as "Distance Learning" A cheap webcam from radio shack or Wal-Mart will work from your home set-up, but if you get to a classroom setting your TV camera will require an operator to focus in on your hands and out when you speak or introduce a topic. TV camera (like a big cam-corder) equipment might be supplied by a school if you volunteer to teach guitar classes or adult education. Certification may be waived as a volunteer. Keep in touch.......
