Members Doolin Dalton Posted June 22, 2004 Members Posted June 22, 2004 What are the terms of Bridge and chorus in a song structure? I see them in alot of tabs. I think they are the same but am not sure. Have wondered this for a while now.
Members !HxC! Posted June 23, 2004 Members Posted June 23, 2004 the chorus is usually the main hook of the song, repeated 2 or 3 times. the bridge takes the song in a different melodic direction.play this in 4/4 time:G C D C x4 then Am D C C x2 The gcdc would be the chorus, and the am d c c would be the bridge. hope this helps:)
Members zookie Posted June 23, 2004 Members Posted June 23, 2004 Many songs are constructed using 3 elements: Verse, Chorus, Bridge. The Verse tells the story. The Chorus announces the theme. The Bridge is sort of a musical aside used to build on the theme or story, but using a new musical structure. The Bridge will almost always resolve back into either the Chorus or a new Verse. A Bridge isn't as common in songs as Verse and Chorus.

Members JetCityMatt Posted June 24, 2004 Members Posted June 24, 2004 The mainstream music world has pretty much settled on one song structure (with exceptions). The Verse Chorus form with a bridge. The Bridge is the part that is new/different sounding after the second chorus. It breaks up the repetitiveness and is supposed to sound like another song within the song. The bridge is also where solos occur... You will find this song structure on a countless number of songs. Many songs go like this: IntroVersePre-Chorus or Climb (just one or two lines that set up the chorus)ChorusVersePre-Chorus or ClimbChorusBridgeChorus Some slower pop ballads, usually older songs, also use another older song form called AABA. Basically, instead of having two totally different parts like the Verse/Chorus form, with an AABA, each of the "A" sections are verses but the last couple lines of it have the "hook"... An example of this form is Billy Joel's "Just the way you are". " I'll take you just the way you are" is the hook at the end of the first "A"The "B" (bridge) section is the sax solo.
