Members Luke66 Posted July 15, 2004 Members Posted July 15, 2004 Anyone know of some excercises to help fingerstyle guitar players. I mainly use a pick, but i love the way fingerstyle sounds.
Members d0zerz Posted July 15, 2004 Members Posted July 15, 2004 Lessons are always a good idea.I'm too cheap and sticking with my whole "self-taught" thing I never did. So i'm sure I have a million bad habits http://www.ericlugosch.com/lessonhome.htmlThere's a site that has a lot of good fingerstyle tunes to work through. I find learning those has helped my fingerstyle a lot.In terms of mechanics it just takes time to build that ability to pluck different strings with different fingers accurately. You might want to start with a chord progression and start arpeggiating chords with all your fingers to start building the feeling for plucking strings.I use all my fingers because I find it easier to play all the strings if my thumb is rooted at the 5th or 6th string, but some people only use 3 or 4 fingers. On that site he gears those songs at a 4 finger approach. You might want to start easier though and arpeggiate with only 3 fingers to start.
