Members PrideAndJoy Posted August 10, 2004 Members Posted August 10, 2004 Hi all, I am new to the electric guitar world. I just received my amp and still waiting for my guitar to get here, but in the meantime I am looking for a good and cheap tuner. I have tried to find reviews about digital tuners and so far it seems that Korgs look like a very good choice. The models that I am so far considering are the CA-30 ($15) and the GA-30 ($20). The CA-30 has the advantage of being chromatic and can be used for any instrument, but the GA-30 seems to be guitar specific (but is not chromatic). The price difference is minimal here so I do not worry about that. Is one is better than the other. Do you guys have any preference between the 2 models and if so why? Thank you in advance and happy riffs, Stephane
Poparad Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I've used the CA-30 for years on guitars, trumpet, anything really. Having a chromatic tuner is a must if you ever try to play your guitar in anything other than standard tuning. The CA-30 is as accurate as any small portable tuner, and is very durable. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped the thing with no harm done. The CA-30 also has a 1/4" jack for a guitar, so you can still just plug in and tune even though it's not a guitar centric tuner.
Members PrideAndJoy Posted August 11, 2004 Author Members Posted August 11, 2004 Thank you for the tip, I will go with the CA-30 then.
Members aureus Posted August 11, 2004 Members Posted August 11, 2004 i have a CA-30 as well. It's nice but the moving *stick* thing isn't very accurate. I mean, I can tune it with the Korg, and then plug the guitar into Guitar tracks' tuner and find it to be off by a bit. Other than that the Korg is nice, i haven't changed batteries for maybe 4 years.
