Members Terje Posted September 22, 2004 Members Posted September 22, 2004 It's so simple. Take a phrase that works over a Bbmaj7 chord and play it over a C7. It works cause you're really playing the notes from the C dorian mode and that minor sound works well in the blues (as you all know).

Anyway, take any phrase that in its present form works over a Bbmaj7 chord, or a Bb chord, or a Bb6 chord. If you can't make a phrase up then find one in a book, steal one from a solo or from a song even. Or just play the scale, the Bb major scale, in ascending 3rds or sopme other nice sounding pattern. Do this but not over a Bbmaj7 chord but over a C7 chord, in a blues preferably.
