Members samthinguy Posted November 3, 2004 Members Posted November 3, 2004 Hi there everyone I'm a younger guy but recently I have developed a love of music that isn't very popular among people my age. I am really interested in learning more about these styles and trademark guitarist from each. Can some suggest some cd's in these styles or similar latin, and other world music, just to get me started or websites I can go to, to hear sound samples and what not to learn more about characteristics of the styles. thanks so much!!!!!
Members Mike_E_McGee Posted November 3, 2004 Members Posted November 3, 2004 Paco Delucia astounds me! I first heard him on on Dimeola's "A Friday Night in San Francisco. That is a great album by the way (it's just not very traditional). Hearing Paco turned me on to the real thing. I've got a 4 disk set of his, and that led me to a vocalist called...Fosforito? I'm going to have to double check jis name when I get home. Obviously I'm not very heavy into this style. I do very much appreciate it though. I heard Fosforito pay with Paco, and then found a CD collection of his. I can assure you that even when Paco is away, this guy has no trouble finding amazing guitaristas! I also have a 3 disk collection of "classical" flamenco called Duende. I'm sure I can pull some names out of that, or ifyou can find it, I can whole heartedly reccomend it.

Welcome to the Latin Sound my amigo! I too subscribe to the same culture. Most of what I listen to or play is more folkoric than say, salsa or even jazz. It it is the foundation on which these styles were formed.I listen to Son Montuno, Pasio, Bolero, Valtes and Tumbao. Here are my recommendations:
