When i play normally, i usually anchor the base of my right wrist on the bridge of my guitar. But when i do really fast stuff, i find that i have to take my wrist off in order to get the speed. Is this the wrong way to do it? Should i always anchor my right wrist?

There's a difference between 'anchoring' and 'resting'; the former implies that you're planting your hand on the bridge as though you were planting corn, and the latter implies a much more temporary condition. :D

The productive purpose for resting your hand (or wrist) on the bridge is to silence unwanted string ringing and to palm mute notes. The convenient purpose for resting your hand is to help maintain a point of reference and increase control. The counterproductive aspect of resting your hand is the potential for restricted motion, either in terms of range or velocity. These three things must be balanced in order to get the most out of that posture.

If that means lifting it entirely at times, that's fine, just as long as it doesn't allow for unwanted noise or inhibit your ability to mute notes (if desired). Assuming that's the case, then you're certainly not doing anything wrong. :)
