Members cloudnine Posted March 12, 2005 Members Posted March 12, 2005 Since I'm a mostly 80s metal guy, there's a lot of palm muting of notes in stuff I play. I recently got an Explorer, and had a bit of a time adjusting from the more "lenient" strat style with ample room when palm muting. Will it compromise the true "chunky" sound of the notes if I rest my hand on my saddles? Or will it produce the same sound if I position it slightly closer to the neck, off the saddles? Sometimes I think it makes a difference, but I think it may be my mind playing tricks on me. Much obliged.
Members Jerry NT Posted March 12, 2005 Members Posted March 12, 2005 I dunno. Just letting you know that someone read your post. Maybe there are more who have but dunno what you mean by keeping that "chunky sound". Whenever I palm mute it has changed the charactoristics of the sound of every guitar. It cuts the ring. Experiment and see what happens. That's the fun, seeing what you can do with it.
