Members -=johhnybravo=- Posted March 29, 2005 Members Posted March 29, 2005 Example: 1 finger per fret. 3h5-6p5-3h5-6p5 Am I meant to just lift the pinky off from the 6th to the 5th, or actually pull it off. Like the technique used (i think?) in tapping. Not just lifting your index/middle finger, but actually striking (?) it the pulling off. Hmm, not lifting it back up parallel from the board, more of a lifting/sliding off effect to strike the note on the ring finger. I hope I made sense My hunch is its the former, but I cant get squat volume out when clean without going back into my death grip
Members Auggie Doggie Posted March 29, 2005 Members Posted March 29, 2005 Your hunch is correct; you need a little 'tug' on the string when pulling off. It's harder to do when using consecutive fingers (ie 4-3, 3-2, 2-1), so you might want to work on the motion first by pulling off from the fourth to the first finger, and then doing the 4-3. It doesn't take a LOT of strength, but it does take some. Like everything else, it's a matter of trial-and-error to find the best way for you to execute the notion(s), and then it just takes practice (lots of it!).
