Members kyoun1e Posted March 19, 2005 Members Posted March 19, 2005 Most of the speed excersices I see involve note picking only. What I never see is notes mixed in with chords. I mean, when you look at tabs for good rock tunes you see great use of little licks in between the chords. How do you go about practicing this? I sit here practicing my scales and then I try one of these tabs and I get tripped up because my fingers are not used to moving from note picking to chord grips. Who has some practice tips for this? I think if you are a rock guitarist, this is where it's at...and I suck at it. Thanks. KY

He go's over this exercise where you just tap your foot to keep the beat and try to go back and forth between your riffs and your licks. It is pretty cool because it improves your time and coordination, as well as phrasing.
