Members Toolsound Posted April 3, 2005 Members Posted April 3, 2005 Hey y'all, I've been playing for about 8 years and I wanna start learning how to shred. I can play well enough, but I don't really know my way around the fretboard. I've been told to start out learning the major scale, but I'm not really sure where to begin. Should I just learn all the positions up and down the neck? Is there a good website to get me started on this? Thanks!
Members Tarv Posted April 3, 2005 Members Posted April 3, 2005 The sticky on modes and tonality at the top is a good place to start.
Members bdemon Posted April 4, 2005 Members Posted April 4, 2005 I'd say learn one position at a time, then learn one string up & down the neck. See each position individually, then you'll start to see the entire scale. Then you're in good position to shred up & down the neck.
