Members planetalk
A dropped D approach to one of the best known intros of recent times. http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/romjul/ Kirk
Members 335clone
Why? The tuning mark uses is Open Bb (open G capo'd at the 3rd fret) on the resonator. Why change things? But hey, great song, play it how ya want.http://www.dstabs.com/romeoandjuliet.htm

From a quick look at the tab, it seems like the Drop D tuning makes that intro more difficult, but maybe I'm just used to the 'normal' way (plus I use open G a lot). I have my son's strat tuned to drop D, so I'll have to give it a shot:cool:
Members planetalk
I haven't dabbled with open tunings for years now, but I'd say it would be easier in open G. Gee, looks like Marc might be singing "It Takes a Worried Man to Sing a Worried Song" in that picture, doesn't it?
Members Redsweater
I was hoping it was the classical song.

It's also playable in standard tuning:rolleyes: I just wanted to know why one would seek harder tunings to play a certain song. There are both open and std tuned guitars on the song, (as you can clearly see in the pic I posted) , but not dropped D. Sure it's just one string different, yet that whole arrangement seems more difficult than necessary.
