...any advice to get 'em sounding perfect at a really high speed? I use the metronome and practice with it turning the bpm's up and up...but it's not helping. Maybe I don't practice them enough...but for the sweepers here, what do you have to say?

Turn the metronome back down to where you can do em perfectly, and go up in very small increments. I was very good at swept arpeggios in the 90's, but a 6year break from playing screwed that. Slow accurate practice is in my opinion the only way to progress in a worthwhile fashion. Auggie Doggies book raising the barre is a great resource too cos all the excercises within are musical which makes em enjoyable to learn.
Peace :D:cool:

Yeah, what Bob said. You don't sound bad, but the timing's off at points. Try breaking it down to just three strings at first, then add another string, and so on. Good shapes to start with are the D chord shape and the Am chord shape. So, say, go from the G string to the high E string, 9th fret, 8th fret, 7th fret. Then come back down the same way except to play the 7th fret on the G string.

After you've done that, try it the other way around. Then maybe add a hammered note on the 8th fret E string. Next play something like 9th fret D string, 7th on G, 8th fret on B, 7th fret on E, hammer on to 10th fret E, then go back to the 7th fret, then 8th fret B string, 9th fret G string, 9th fret D string. Or something. Hope I'm not being too basic here.

You're rushing it. Practice em at a pace where you can articulate every note cleanly. You'll probably be surprised at how slow it is if you're new to them. Also practice keeping the timing even and precise. Practicing somthing faster than you can manage accurately just inhibits you later. (I know this from experience!!)
I'm rubbish with tempo's and metronome's so don't ask me how much to slow down cos I couldn't tell you in bpm. Just drop to speed you're comfortable at, perfect some and then speed up very slowly paying close attention to articulation. That's worked for me anyway. I used to be a big Yngwie fan (he scared me into having lessons) and used to be able to play most of his first 2 albums and most of Trilogy Suite, so I did have em down quite well then. Don't have time to practice as much now :( :(
